How to Install Your Epson Printer via Ethernet / Troubleshooting Ethernet Connectivity Issues

Applies To

Description

This article describes how to install the Epson printer driver and software using a wired Ethernet connection.

Before you begin:

  • Make sure your operating system has the latest available updates installed.
  • Make sure your Epson device is powered on and not displaying any error messages or lights.
  • Disable Wi-Fi on your Epson device, if available.
  • Make sure your PC, your Epson printer, and any hubs or extenders in between are all connected to the same network.
  • If you've already tried installing the driver or adding a new port (such as an EpsonNet Print Port) without success, uninstall the printer driver from your PC and restart the computer before continuing.
  • You have reset all network settings via the control panel of your Epson device - Refer to your user's guide for information on how to do this.
  • Print a network status sheet from your Epson device's control panel and confirm it has been assigned an IP address — you'll find this under the heading <TCP/IP>.

Solution

  1. Go to epson.co.uk/support.
  2. Enter your device name in the "Search by product name" field and press Enter.
  3. Select your operating system from the menu on the right.
  4. Select the Drivers tab, download the driver software, and start the installation.
  5. Continue with the steps below for your operating system.

Windows

  1. When you see the Epson Printer Utilities Setup screen, select Manual.
  2. Select Search for a printer connected on a network.
  3. Select your Epson device from the list, matching it against the IP address on your network status sheet.
  4. Select OK and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

macOS

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg file and run the Epson installer.
  2. Follow the installer prompts until the driver installation is complete.
  3. Open the Apple menu > System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  4. Select Add Printer.
  5. Select your Epson printer from the list.
  6. In Use, select your Epson printer's own driver (matching your model name) — not AirPrint.
  7. Select Add.
  8. Select the printer, open Options & Supplies > Utility, and select Print Test Page to verify the installation.
Note: If macOS has already added the printer as AirPrint, remove that printer first, then repeat steps 4–8 above using the Epson driver instead.

After completing the installation, restart your PC.

Still having trouble?

First, revisit the "Before you begin" checklist above to confirm every step there has been completed, then try again. If you still can't print over the network, see KA-01581.
