How to install the Epson inbox drivers (EpsonPrinterDrivers.pkg) from the Mac OS X CD/DVD

Epson inbox drivers
Many products are supported in Mac OS X by a driver available on the Epson website; other products may have inbox driver support. For optimum performance, we recommend using the latest driver from the Epson website, where available.
Mac OS X Lion (10.7), Mountain Lion (10.8) and Mavericks (10.9) are only available to download from the Apple Store. Therefore they are not supplied with an installation CD-Rom. See the following articles related to Mac OS X Lion and Mountain Lion:
Apple Software Update requires an active internet connection.
All-In-One software: Only printer drivers are distributed via Software Update.
To obtain a scanner driver, check if a download for Epson Scan is available. Visit your local website via www.epson-europe.com. Select your product and operating system (Mac OS X - Intel) via the Drivers & Software or Support section of the web site.
If Epson Scan is not available for your All-In-One, scanner support is available via ICA. ICA means Image Capture Application (Apple's Scanner software).
Follow the instructions below if one of the following is true:
You have a Power PC-based Mac and a driver is not available on the website.
You have an Intel-based Mac and only a Power PC driver is available on the website. (Power PC drivers are not suitable for installation onto Intel-based Macs.)
You have a Power PC or Intel Mac running OS X Leopard and a driver dated after October 2007 is not available on the website.
You are running Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) and a driver dated after September 2009 isn't listed on the Epson website for your product. The Related Article "Epson and Snow Leopard - Mac OS X 10.6" indicates your driver support is "Inbox".
There is a suitable driver on the website for your computer's OS version but the Mac you want to install the printer onto does not have an Internet connection and you cannot transfer a downloaded driver file onto it for installation.
Check the Apple article for your OS version to see if your printer's driver is part of the Epson Printer Drivers package:
If your printer is listed on the Apple website with EPSON under the Install Package column, then an Epson inbox driver is available.
If only a 'Gimp-Print' or 'Gutenprint' driver is available, you can install this but there may be limitations to this driver. We cannot support or guarantee the functionality of third party drivers.
If your Mac was pre-installed with OS X and you do not have a restore/install CD or DVD, the Epson printer drivers should already be installed on your system. Move to the next section to add the printer.
If your Mac was not pre-installed with OS X, and a custom install of OS X was performed, the Epson printer driver package may not be installed. If you would like to install any of the optional printer drivers after installing Mac OS X, follow the instructions below.
Insert the Mac OS X [name of OS version] Install Disc or Restore DVD. Do not start up the computer from this disc.
The Retail disc is the Mac OS X Install DVD. If you have an Install disc (the disc that came with your Mac), make sure it is the correct disc.
10.2: Install Disc 2.
10.3: Install Disc 3.
10.4: Install Disc 1.
10.5: Install Disc 1.
10.6: See the next step to install from the menu of the Mac OS X Install DVD.
Note the name of the installation CD or DVD as it appears on the desktop (such as 'iMac Software').
From the Finder's Go menu, choose Go to Folder (Shift + Command + G).
Type the following path:
/Volumes/(name of your CD or DVD)/System/Installation/Packages
Then click Go
Check the items available for EpsonPrinterDrivers.pkg. Double-click the file.
10.3: You will have a choice between EpsonPrinterDrivers1.pkg and EpsonPrinterDrivers2.pkg.
10.2: If you cannot locate this file, double-click AdditionalPrinterDrivers.mpkg. Follow step 2 under section 'Install from disc menu' for guidance.
Authenticate by entering your account password when prompted.
Follow the on-screen prompts, accepting the Software Licence Agreement and selecting the destination volume (that OS X is installed on).
Click Continue. The selected software installs. Once installed restart the Mac.
Install from disc menu
Alternatively, you can use the Optional Installs Installer via the disc menu:
On the root of the disc, double-click Optional Installs.mpkg. You may need to scroll down to see the Optional Installs icon.
10.5 and 10.6:
Double-click Optional Installs.
In the Optional Installs folder, double-click the Optional Installs icon.
The Installer launches. Follow the on-screen prompts, accepting the Software Licence Agreement and selecting the destination volume (that OS X Leopard is installed on) to continue.
On the Custom Install screen, click the down arrow next to Printer Drivers and check the box for EPSON Printer Drivers. Click Install.
For Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6), click on the arrow next to Printer Support and check the box for Epson Printer Drivers. To install all printer drivers including PPDs, check the box next to Printer Support then click Install.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. Once installed restart the Mac.
Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6): The latest Epson Printer Driver package is made available via Apple's Software Update.
Run Software Update from the Apple menu to obtain drivers for products labelled "Inbox**" in Related Article "Epson and Snow Leopard - Mac OS X 10.6".

When the Mac has restarted, open the Print Center or Print & Fax and add the printer, selecting the printer under either EPSON USB, EPSON FireWire, EPSON TCP/IP, or EPSON AppleTalk in the printer browser. See one of the following Related Articles for help:
