Epson Event and Push scan not working on macOS

When using the push scan feature on a dedicated Epson scanner or compatible all-in-one product, Epson Scan will fail to open, or work intermittently on macOS.


Ensure that the latest version of Epson Scan, Event Manager and ICA are installed. You can find these on your local Epson website, under the Support section. Alternatively, you may use the Epson Software Updater tool to download the most up-to-date software.


The version of ICA (image capture) must be version 5.8.6 or above, for you to use this function.

It may also be necessary to reset twain devices in ICA software. To do this follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the search option and type Image Capture.
  2. Double-click on the Image Capture icon in the results list
  3. Image Capture will open, click on File > Reset Twain Devices.
  4. When Epson Scan next opens you will be asked to confirm that you wish to use Epson Scan as your default scanning program. Click Yes.
