Printer Installation Issue on ARM64 Devices

Relates to:

ARM64

Explanation:

When attempting to install the currently distributed Epson printer driver on an ARM64-based PC, the installation process appears to complete successfully. After accepting the license agreement and clicking OK, a message stating "Setup is completed" is displayed. However, the driver is not actually installed.

What’s Being Done

Epson is updating the installation package to include support for ARM64 drivers. This should resolve the issue in future installations.

Possible Workaround

Instead of using the Epson installer, try setting up the printer using the default driver provided by the operating system.

Option 1: Set up the OS standard driver (USB connection)

  1. Make sure your PC is connected to the internet.
  2. Plug the printer into your PC using a USB cable and turn it on.
  3. Windows will automatically install the standard driver.
  4. The printer queue name will look something like this depending on your model: EPSON EP-811A SeriesARM64

Option 2: How to set up the OS standard driver (Network connection)

  1. Click the Windows icon on the taskbar and open Settings.
  2. Go to Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  3. Click Add device.
  4. Wait for your printer to appear in the list (e.g., EPSONAC4064 (EP-811A Series)).
  5. Select your printer and click Add device.
  6. Windows will install the driver, and you’ll be ready to print.
  7. The printer queue name will match the name shown in the list.
